 Everybody loves Wild West themes, may it be movies, parties, costumes, and even school research projects. It does not come as a surprise that Wild West dcor is just as in demand.

The rustic environment of this era has a very attractive appeal. It pulls and calls out the inner child in us. How many times have we imagined riding on a horse, lassoing a bull, cocking a gun and shooting a bulls eye? Most of the time, this interest in the Wild West is reflected on how much of it is incorporated in your household dcor.

Setting up the Theme

Unlike some room dcor themes, you can go all out with having a wild, Wild West look in your home. This is easier done in cottages, ranches and wooden cabins-houses that are away from the urban noise and infrastructure, and surrounded by a rustic ambience. What better way is there to create such an impression of your home than to begin outside, right? A fenced yard with a dirt path or stone-flagged path will open up the place nicely. Installing wooden shutters in the windows adds to the pastoral look of the house. Several low-lying shrubs and wild flowers near the gates entrance are going to make your home look warm and inviting.

Decorating With Room Accents

There are plenty of ways to decorate a room with a Western theme. What may immediately come to your mind are horses, and although they are a prominent feature of that era, they are not the only ones that can fill a room. After all, you probably will not like it if your room will resemble a shed.

But let us first talk about horses. There are plenty of horse figurines in the market. They vary in size, material, color, theme and designs. Other items associated with this era can be beautiful decorative pieces. You can mount ropes, lassos or whips on the walls. Horseshoes of different sizes will look nice on the wall. Arrange them randomly, or lay them in different, creative formations. To create a more authentic look, have some leather items in the room. This may be a leather stool or a leather-bound book on top of the center table. Rugs, ceramics, throw pillows and pottery with the right hues of sand, leather and some greens contribute to the Western look.

One thing that must be kept in mind is that rustic is not synonymous with unkempt. Keeping your home clean and in order must always be a priority. Having a Wild West theme is the inspiration for your home, not the trouble, messes and dust that are commonly used to describe it.
